Meet the Team

Our team of 20+ highly skilled staff members have been hand picked for their expertise in caring for veterinary patients. At Pikesville Animal hospital we believe in continuous education and strive to stay at the forefront of advancements in veterinary care. We support continued education for all staff members, helping them obtain accreditations such as Fear Free certification, Diabetic Counselors, and Soft Tissue Ultrasonography.

Our Veterinarians

Our team of experienced veterinarians bring a combined 50 years of expertise in veterinary medicine. Their dedication to veterinary medicine has been acknowledged with titles such as Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners and with certificates of completion in Sound’s Small Animal Ultrasound Imaging Programs.

With a veterinary degree from the University of California at Davis, Dr. Zumpano completed an internship in surgery and emergency medicine at California Animal Hospital in Los Angeles. He brings exceptional care to pets at Pikesville Animal Hospital as a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, Canine and Feline Practice, and is Fear Free Certified with an advanced interest in endoscopy, laparoscopy, and ultrasound.

With a veterinary degree from Ross University School of Veterinary medicine, Dr. Covert has continued increasing her skill set including completing a course in veterinary acupuncture and learning more and more about regenerative and sports medicine.

Completing her Doctorate of Veterinary at Ontario Veterinary College, Dr. Hughes specialties include soft tissue surgery, dentistry, emergency medicine and working with geriatric animals.

Dr. Dvorkin completed her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. She most enjoys Internal Medicine, Dermatology, Behavior, and Pain Management including Chinese medicine and Acupuncture.

Martha Badura, DVM
Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Badura has been actively practicing for 33 years. She loves all disciplines involved in general medicine, however wellness exams and educating her clients are her favorite parts.  

Supporting Staff

Our team of dedicated Registered Veterinary Technicians and additional support staff is driven by a shared passion for animals and a commitment to their well-being. With a combined 30+ years of experience, they bring a wealth of expertise and knowledge to Pikesville Animal Hospital. Their unwavering love for animals is complemented by extensive education and training, ensuring your pets receive the highest level of care and attention.

Dana Mazur, RVT, CVPM
Practice Manager

Dana initially had an interest in animal care prior to starting college. After college, life took her towards a successful career in software engineering. With time, she decided she wanted to pursue her original love. With the support of her husband she returned to school and earned a degree as a Registered Veterinary Technician in 2006. Dana has been with Pikesville Animal Hospital since its opening and has been instrumental in leading the staff. Dana lives with her husband, daughter, son, and her dog, SnowFlake, who you will find wandering around his second home at PAH.

Inventory Manager

Chrissy is a native of Baltimore and has over 25 years of experience working in veterinary hospitals. Prior to joining Pikesville Animal Hospital she was the hospital manager for Banfield, The Pet Hospital in Towson. Chrissy has been with Pikesville Animal Hospital since its opening in 2008. She has a passion for all things Inventory related and is currently working toward becoming a Certified Veterinary Inventory Professional. You will still see her at the hospital's front desk with our Client Service Coordinator team assisting you and your fur-children. Chrissy and her family currently reside in Lutherville with Ivy, their 9lbs. Chihuahua Mix who actually runs the household.

Jessica Twomey, RVT
Surgical Coordinator

Jessica is a native of New Jersey and has lived in Maryland since graduating college in 2007. After graduating with a business degree and working in the banking industry, she knew she needed a more rewarding career. While dog walking and pet sitting, she decided working with animals was her true passion. In 2011, she joined the Pikesville Animal Hospital team, where she has since enjoyed gaining knowledge and skills in the profession. She went back to school in 2017 and graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at CCBC. She has been a Registered Veterinary Technician since 2019. Jessica loves working with the surgery patients and strives to continue learning about anesthesia and pain management. She currently lives in Baltimore County with her husband, daughter, and her 3 dogs.

Allison Kalkstein, RVT
Head Technician

Allison is a native of Baltimore and has always had a passion for nature and conservation. She majored in Organismal Biology and Ecology at Towson University, graduating in December of 2010. Afterward, she interned at the World Bird Sanctuary in St. Louis, Missouri for 5 months. Allison also spent two summers in Sheridan, Wyoming, researching the breeding biology of the Mountain Bluebird and the Tree Swallow. She started her career in veterinary pet care in 2012 and a year later joined the Pikesville Animal Hospital team. She lives in Towson with her daughter and dog, Indy.

Hannah Rogers, CSR
Team Lead

Hannah Rogers originated from Indianapolis, Indiana. She moved to the East Coast in 2004 to Delaware, then moved to Pennsylvania in 2013. She attended Penn State University with a Communications degree. Hannah entered the veterinary world in 2017 after graduating college. She has one dog named Peanut (Teacup Yorkie-Poo). She joined the Pikesville Animal Hospital team in April 2023. She brings a bright, and welcoming energy to our front. In her free time she loves to walk around Fell's Point, practices yoga/pilates, and read books.
